Wow, it's already the last day of January and I know there are things I have not discussed on here. I'm lying in bed with my sweet sugar britches. She has strep throat, which explains the on-again off-again fever, the decreased appetite and perhaps the vomiting last week. Poor babe.
In further news...
- Q started a reading class this month. He attends the class at the public library each Saturday. During the hour, he & "Ms. Amanda" work on site words & letter sounds, etc. He really enjoys it.
- Q has made great progress in his class this year. I am so happy that we had him stay in the Pre-K class one more year. His social skills now match his personality, he goofs around with the class, no more shy guy, has self-confidence.
- WE STARTED CAR LINE!!! For three years, I've been driving the kids to "school" each morning, parking, getting them both out of the car, dragging in all of the supplies, homework projects, nap mats, blankets, lovies, .... At the beginning of January, we were asked to start the drop-off procedure in preparation for Kindergarten. Guess what? They love it! This Mama does too! I simply pull up, reach around and unbuckle R, and they both climb out into the hands of the smiling teacher. Yahoo!
- We began construction on our home last week. (It seems to be a recurring theme. Nothing like a little extra chaos when your pregnant, no? If you recall, R was born the day we began the remodeling of our kitchen and floors.) The upstairs game/tv room is being converted into bedroom #4. The opening from the old room to the foyer is now closed in. A door frame was constructed to look like an existing bedroom with a door. A closet will be constructed out of a enclave that is currently in the room. We are quite pleased with the progress!
- Registration at the kid's school is tomorrow. I will only be registering my almost four-year-old girl. Geez...FOUR?? I can't wrap my head around how that happended, but here we are. They do not take infants at this "school", so the search is on for our newest addition.
- R is having a superb year! She is Miss Independent. The teacher says that students fight over who gets to play with her, but she doesn't need anyone else to make her happy.
We have lots of projects to complete between now & the birth of baby girl, too:
- Decide upon a name.
- Paint the new bedroom, which will belong to big brother.
- Refinish the top bunk of Q's twin beds. These beds are very special to us -- Jason & his brother, Craig, slept on them when they were little. Q's Papa (Bob) & his brother (Uncle Steve) also slept on them when they were little.
- Paint baby sister's room, which is currently Q's room.
- Assemble crib and all the cuteness.
- Re-organize/Donate toys (Did I mention our old game/tv room used to house all of the toys?)
- Paint a melamine dresser for baby sister's room. We were given said dresser a few months ago, so why not try to spruce it up. I've been on-line lately on how to refurbish it to my liking. I'll post pics of my project, if it comes to fruition.
